CAS Programmes
The purpose of the CAS programmes is to prepare professionals (a previous technical degree is NOT mandatory) to upskill their understanding of technology and to work effectively with technical teams. The programmes cover a wide range of technology topics that are prone to impact industries over the next 5 years. This is different from most science and technology continuing education programmes, which are designed to train participants with a technical degree to become advanced technical experts in a specific area.
Currently, the approved list of CAS programmes is as follows:
- CAS AIT: Applied Information Technology
- CAS AMT: Applied Manufacturing Technology
- CAS ATE: Applied Technology in Energy - Online Info Events
- CAS AED: Applied Electronics and Digitization
- CAS ARI: Applied Technology: R&D and Innovation
The core value of these CAS is the unique combination of rigorous technical training that has been designed for professionals with backgrounds outside of the CAS’s technical focus area. Taken as individual CAS outside of the Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Applied Technology (MAS AT) programme, they are appropriate for technical professionals seeking to expand their technical field of expertise, but also for professionals with non-technical backgrounds looking for up-, and reskilling opportunities.
Each CAS in Applied Technology is designed around a specific theme or focus area in order to broaden a participant’s technical background. In less than 4 months, professionals and executives without prior experience in a particular area can get up to speed on the most important technology in that focus area along with the supporting scientific fundamentals so they can better understand the technology’s capabilities.
More information about how the CAS programmes fit together as a MAS is available on the MAS Programme page.
